Was Jake Pavelka Voted Off Bachelor Pad?

What the heck happened at the end of this week’s Bachelor Pad episode?

The last rose came down to Jake Pavelka – who ominously vowed that if he was going home, he was going to take as many people as he could out with him – and Kasey Kahl.

The music built to a crescendo and then … the credits rolled.

Chris Harrison said “Kasey,” but that was it. Presumably he’s getting a rose? It’s all unclear. The host-pimp says next week, “it will all make sense.” Either way, it was odd:

Bachelor Pad Episode 3 Rose Ceremony

Is there a chance Jake Pavelka actually sticks around? Or did the show decide to edit it this way simply to spread Jake’s epic meltdown upon being voted off?

We’ll find out next Monday night, obviously. But until then …

Whose side are you on in this Bachelor Pad battle?

‘Dark Knight Rises’ On Set: Best Pittsburgh Sneak Peeks!

As production on the 2012 Batman flick wraps in the Steel City, we detail the five coolest looks to hit the Net.
By Eric Ditzian

On the set of “Dark Knight Rises” in Pittsburgh

In late May, to mark the start of “Dark Knight Rises” production in Pittsburgh, we got our first look at the newest villain to face off against Batman: Tom Hardy as the broad-backed, rubber-face-mask-rocking Bane. That juicy, studio-approved first look, it turned out, was a harbinger of spoiler-y sneak peeks to come.

Over the next three months, we feasted our eyes upon villains and vehicles and massive action set pieces and more. The free-for-all, though, is probably at an end, as “Dark Knight Rises” production in Pittsburgh has wrapped ahead of a shift to Los Angeles, where on-set security is likely to be significantly tighter. So as we bid goodbye to Batman’s adventures in the Steel City, let’s take a look at the five coolest things we’ve peeped since May.

Check out photos from the set of “Dark Knight Rises.”

Kickoff at Heinz Field
Early in August, director Christopher Nolan took over the Pittsburgh Steelers’ home stadium of Heinz Field for an epic action sequence in which NFL stars like Ben Roethlisberger, Hines Ward and Troy Polamalu got into character as the Gotham Rogues in front of 10,000 extras. For once, these gridiron greats weren’t the center of the action, as the game was interrupted by the explosive arrival of Bane and a few camouflaged tumblers.

Crashing Catwoman
We need not rehash the not-exactly-warm reception to the photographic debut of Anne Hathaway in character as Catwoman. A far more perilous situation unfolded days later when Hathaway’s stunt double crashed the Batpod into a cameraman working with a super-expensive IMAX camera. Reportedly, neither the camera nor the operator was injured. So that’s good, as was the peek at the scene they were shooting: police officers beating the heck out of people outside Gotham City Hall.

Totaled Tumbler
Everywhere you looked in Pittsburgh, there were tumblers — those armed vehicles Christian Bale made into his newfangled Batmobile. Where’d they all come from? And what the heck happened to one of them, which wound up buried in rubble? Our guess is Batman’s latest badass vehicle is responsible for the damage.

Batwing Takes Flight
The latest vehicle, of course, is the Batwing. In mid-August, we got our first look at the craft, which has popped up in previous “Batman” films but never before in Nolan’s versions. Gone was any resemblance to director Tim Burton’s earlier iteration, or the Batplanes present throughout comic-book history; in their place was an ultra-realistic aircraft that seemingly owes its existence, like the tumbler, to a military design.

Bane Takes on Batman
Of all the many character-centric set pics, our favorite is probably this one of Bane grappling with Batman. For all the high-tech gadgets this movie will feature, the fight between these two adversaries might well come down to some old-fashioned fisticuffs. The photo also showcased a fat scar on Bane’s neck, perhaps Nolan’s way of explaining the villain’s life-or-death addiction to an experimental drug called Venom.

Check out everything we’ve got on “The Dark Knight Rises.”

Demi Lovato’s Unbroken Track Listing Reveals Missy Elliott, Jason Derulo Collabos

Timbaland and singers Dev and Iyaz will also appear on the 15-song set, which drops on September 20.
By James Dinh

Demi Lovato wasn’t kidding when she teased some star-studded collaborations for her comeback album Unbroken. On Tuesday, the Disney star revealed on her website that her upcoming set (due September 20) will include musical pairings with Missy Elliott, Timbaland, Jason Derülo, Dev and Iyaz.

While Lovato’s power-ballad lead single “Skyscraper” nabs a place toward the end of Unbroken, all of her studio team-ups appear at the beginning of the 15-song lineup. Hip-hop heavyweight partners Missy Elliott and Timbaland assist the songstress on “All Night Long,” while electro-pop singer Dev lends her voice to the Ryan Tedder-produced “Who’s That Boy?” Lovato continues the star power with Iyaz on “You’re My Only Shorty” and concludes the collabo party with Jason Derülo on “Together.”

Some of the other songs on the set include “Unbroken,” “Mistake,” “Give Your Heart a Break” and a Wizz Dumb remix of “Skyscraper.”

Lovato recently spoke to Ryan Seacrest about “All Night Long,” describing it as “one of the best experiences.”

“Missy Elliott got on one of the tracks, and it’s called ‘All Night Long.’ It was really fun!” she gushed.

Lovatics already know how the pop star’s collaboration with Timbaland came about. Back in January, the R&B hit-maker reached out to Demi via a YouTube video message, sharing a snippet of a song he had whipped up for her. Lovato was still checked into a treatment center for “emotional and physical issues” at the time.

Collabos aren’t the only thing fans have to look forward to as the singer/actress also announced her first two Unbroken concert dates, in New York City and Los Angeles, which take place just in time for the album’s release.

Here’s the Unbroken track list, according to the singer’s website:

1. “All Night Long” (featuring Missy Elliott and Timbaland)
2. “Who’s That Boy?” (featuring Dev)
3. “You’re My Only Shorty” (featuring Iyaz)
4. “Together” (featuring Jason Derülo)
5. “Lightweight”
6. “Unbroken”
7. “Fix a Heart”
8. “Hold Up”
9. “Mistake”
10. “Give Your Heart a Break”
11. “Skyscraper”
12. “In Real Life”
13. “My Love Is Like a Star”
14. “For the Love of a Daughter”
15. “Skyscraper” (Wizz Dumb Remix)

Which song on Demi’s new album are you most looking forward to hearing? Tell us in the comments below.

Katy Perry, Lil Wayne And More (Possible) VMA Winners

Bigger Than the Sound guesses who will take home Sunday’s biggest Moonmen.
By James Montgomery

Katy Perry
Photo: Graham Denholm/ Getty Images

The 2011 MTV Video Music Awards will air live on MTV this Sunday at 9 p.m. ET, but if you’re a Katy Perry fan, well, you probably knew that already. After all, the California Gurl is the most-nominated artist at this year’s VMAs, leading the pack with an eye-opening 10 nods, including Best Female Video, Best Pop Video and the biggie, Video of the Year.

Following closely behind her are the likes of Adele, Kanye West and Bruno Mars, but really, all eyes will be on Perry. Will she take home her first-ever Moonman? Will she sweep the night’s major categories? And, most importantly of all, what color will her hair be?

Of course, KP’s not the only story line heading into Sunday’s show: Can Gaga win the only major award she’s up for? Can Tyler, the Creator shock the world? Luckily, I’m here to provide answers. Much like I’ve done in previous years (and mostly because I have a rather insatiable gambling addiction), I’m throwing on the old prognostication cap and trying my hand at picking the winners in all the major VMA categories. Of course, while I can’t guarantee my accuracy, I can promise you that I spent, like, 25 minutes on this, which is a pretty thorough investment.

Oh, and for the record, I’m going with “puce” for Katy’s hair color. The rest of my picks right now:

Best Male Video
» Bruno Mars, “Grenade”
» Cee Lo Green, “F— You”
» Eminem (featuring Rihanna), “Love the Way You Lie”
» Justin Bieber, “U Smile”
» Kanye West (featuring Rihanna and Kid Cudi), “All of the Lights”

My Take: In a year so thoroughly dominated by the ladies, I’m surprised they didn’t find a way to sneak Adele or Katy Perry in here. As it stands, five worthy videos will rep for the Y chromosome, and, to be honest, each has about the same shot of winning (though it would be fitting if one of the two clips featuring Rihanna got the W).

My Pick: Whenever things are this close, always go with the old awards-show adage: “If they show up, they’ll go up.” I can’t vouch for the Sunday night plans of Cee Lo, Em, Bieber or Kanye, but I do know Bruno will be in the house, which means he’ll probably be making at least one trip to the podium. Pencil “Grenade” in as my favorite to win here.

Best Female Video
» Adele, “Rolling in the Deep”
» Beyoncé, “Run the World (Girls)”
» Katy Perry, “Firework”
» Lady Gaga, “Born This Way”
» Nicki Minaj, “Super Bass”

My Take: Almost by default, it’s the night’s biggest award — or at least the most hotly contested. All five females have done big things on the charts, and all five would be considered legitimate front-runners in any other year. But this is 2011 …

My Pick: … which means that, essentially, this is down to a three-woman contest: Adele, Katy and Gaga (in a big year for female artists, you’ve gotta go with the biggest of them all). I suspect Katy will triumph elsewhere, and Adele, well, she’ll have the Grammys. So let’s go with Gaga; it’s the only major award she’s up for, and if she didn’t win something, the Little Monsters would riot in the streets.

Best Rock Video
» Cage the Elephant, “Shake Me Down”
» Foo Fighters, “Walk”
» Foster the People, “Pumped Up Kicks”
» Mumford & Sons, “The Cave”
» The Black Keys, “Howlin’ For You”

My Take: As I was writing this, the MTV Newsroom started shaking, a residual tremor of the earthquake that hit Virginia on Tuesday afternoon. And if that isn’t a sign that God isn’t happy with this year’s Best Rock Video noms, well, then I don’t know what is.

My Pick: No pick, for fear of Divine Retribution.

Best Hip-Hop Video
» Chris Brown (featuring Lil Wayne and Busta Rhymes), “Look at Me Now”
» Kanye West (featuring Rihanna and Kid Cudi), “All of the Lights”
» Lil Wayne (featuring Cory Gunz), “6 Foot 7 Foot”
» Lupe Fiasco, “The Show Goes On”
» Nicki Minaj, “Super Bass”

My Take: Nicki’s nod for “Super Bass” makes her the first female to be nominated in Best Hip-Hop Video since Mary J. Blige’s “Just Fine” in 2008, which doesn’t really mean much, but should still be noted. Also for the first time since 2008: Eminem will not win, since he didn’t get nominated.

My Pick: I think it boils down to Weezy and Nicki, though given that fan voting will help determine the winner, you can’t discount Chris Brown’s chances either. In a pinch, I’ll say it’s Wayne, especially given everything he’s got planned during — and immediately following — the VMAs.

Best Pop Video
» Adele, “Rolling in the Deep”
» Britney Spears, “Till the World Ends”
» Bruno Mars, “Grenade”
» Katy Perry, “Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)”
» Pitbull (featuring Ne-Yo, Afrojack and Nayer), “Give Me Everything”

My Take: Another knock-down, drag-out category, featuring three of the biggest female stars on the planet — plus Bruno Mars and Pitbull.

My Pick: Katy Perry. The coronation begins here and (quite possibly) picks up steam later in the night.

Best New Artist
» Big Sean (featuring Chris Brown), “My Last”
» Foster the People, “Pumped Up Kicks”
» Kreayshawn, “Gucci Gucci”
» Tyler, the Creator, “Yonkers”
» Wiz Khalifa, “Black and Yellow”

My Take: Perhaps the oddest assortment of BNA noms since 2004 (in which Kanye West and Maroon 5 went head-to-head with the Darkness, Jet, JoJo and Yellowcard), it’s another take-your-pick tossup. So, in that case …

My Pick: … I’ll go with Tyler, the Creator. He’ll be in attendance, and they’re gonna want to get him up onstage somehow. So if he doesn’t win here, that only leaves …

Video of the Year
» Adele, “Rolling in the Deep”
» Beastie Boys, “Make Some Noise”
» Bruno Mars, “Grenade”
» Katy Perry, “Firework”
» Tyler, the Creator, “Yonkers”

My Take: The night’s biggest award and one that can go two ways. Either voters keep with recent history (the last four winners: Gaga, Beyoncé, Britney Spears and Rihanna) or they decide this is the year to shake things up (see: 2006′s Panic! at the Disco triumph). Which way will they go? You may be surprised.

My Pick: Much like when I sorta called Arcade Fire’s shocking Album of the Year win at the Grammys earlier this year, I can’t seem to shake the fact that VMA voters seem to have a soft spot for the underdog, which is why my first pick is Tyler, the Creator. Of course, I can’t overlook the fact that Katy Perry has never won a VMA (she’s definitely the Susan Lucci of the awards), so I’m making her my alternate pick. Remember, folks, you heard it here first. Sort of.

The 28th annual MTV Video Music Awards will air live Sunday from Los Angeles at 9 p.m. ET/PT, following the Selena Gomez-hosted pre-show at 8. See the list of nominees, revisit last year’s highlights and vote for your favorites in the general categories by visiting VMA.MTV.com.

Amy Winehouse: No Illegal Drugs in Her System at Time of Death

Amy Winehouse: No Illegal Drugs in Her System at Time of Death

Though Amy Winehouse had her share of well-publicized battles with addiction during her short life, the singer’s family has just released a statement saying that no illegal drugs were in Winehouse’s system when she died on July 23 at the age of 27.

"Toxicology results returned to the Winehouse family by authorities have confirmed that there were no illegal substances in Amy’s system at the time of her death," family spokesman Chris Goodman said in a statement Tuesday. "Results indicate that alcohol was present but it cannot be determined as yet if it played a role in her death."

When Winehouse was found dead in her London home on July 23, it was widely assumed that the cause was a drug overdose. After all, just the month before she had checked herself into rehab and then left after only one week.

But Winehouse’s father Mitch was adamant that Amy had kicked drugs three years prior and had even quit alcohol cold turkey three weeks before her death. Though reports claimed that Winehouse went on a 72-hour bender (she was allegedly seen drinking gin and Redbull at the iTunes festival in North London) leading up to her passing, her father theorized that Amy died from alcohol withdrawal when she ignorned her doctor’s advice to gradually ween herself off booze and instead quit abruptly.

And so, the mystery still remains: What was the cause of Amy Winehouse’s death? Was her system so already destroyed that it just collapsed? Did she suffer a seizure from alcohol withdrawal? Or was it the end result of that rumored bender? An investigation into Winehouse’s death is still ongoing, so hopefully Amy’s family will get more answers.

"The family would like to thank the police and coroner for their continuing thorough investigations and for keeping them informed throughout the process," Goodman said in his statement. "They await the outcome of the inquest (into her death) in October."

Lil Wayne Bandaged Up — I’m Ready for Some Football!!!

Filed under: Lil Wayne, Exclusive, TMZ Sports

0822_lil_wayne_WM_TMZ_EX_Launch
He took a lickin’ … like a lollipop … but Lil Wayne kept on tickin’ after his skateboard crash this morning — signing autographs and talking football AFTER he had 9 stitches put in his head.

As we previously reported, Weezy wrecked pretty hard at a St. Louis skateboard park and his entourage rushed him to a nearby hospital … where doctors put him back together again.

Hours after the injury, Wayne was in pretty good spirits — and outside his hotel, dude even predicted his Green Bay Packers would repeat as NFL champs.

Bachelor Pad Recap: Jake vs. Kasey, Winner Take All

Last night on Bachelor Pad, Melissa went insane, Jake’s feud with Kasey escalated, Bret Michaels showed up, and there was synchronized swimming involved.

Just another eventful night on ABC’s guilty pleasure spinoff hit.

By the end, it was Jake Pavelka and Kasey Kahl on the block again, with a weird ending that would have people talking if the format actually mattered.

Read about it below in THG’s official +/- Bachelor Pad recap:

Not In Sync

Blake, on Melissa: “She’s like a live wire that’s flailing around on the ground ready to zap somebody, and I’m covered in water.” Plus 4 for that metaphor.

Speaking of water, the challenge is synchronized swimming! If you thought the girls would have a big edge here, boy did you think wrong. Minus 5.

Obligatory Minus 2 for Erica’s attempt at “swimming.”

Despite not playing to his self-proclaimed strengths – mental durability, physical strength and problem solving – Jake is the star ballerina! Plus 9.

Michael wins the rose, however, resulting in another boring, sappy date with Holly. Minus only 1, though, because at least this wasn’t scripted.

Vienna Girardi, who was asked to come along on Mike’s date for reasons unknown to all, spends the whole time whining. God, she is painful. Minus 9.

Once you get past the random, awkward ridiculousness of his cameo and “performance” for Holly and Mike, Bret Michaels is kind of the man. Plus 11.

Song choice: “Every Rose Has Its Thorn.” Obvi. Plus 4.

Michelle Money, the girls’ winner, is pretty darn likable on Bachelor Pad. Plus 13 for turning around her image. She’s not perfect, but seems genuine.

Michelle Money Shot

Minus 7, though, for her pronunciation of Graham. Graaaaaaaaaahm. Not annoying at all. Plus 3 for those two, while we’re at it. So cute together!

“I think you’re great,” Michelle says. “You barely know me,” Graham responds. Still, they make out hard. Michelle definitely gets after it. Plus 5.

Minus 4 for the rose appearing and disappearing from Graaaaaaaaaaahm‘s shirt. Even we noticed that one, editors. Step up your game.

Back at the Pad, Jake Pavelka conspires to plot Kasey’s demise. Plus 6.

Sadly, his plot does not involve playing “The Rainbow Connection” on repeat until Kasey loses his mind, attacks him and is removed from the house. Minus 3.

“I was willing to do whatever I need to do.” – Jake, who then backed up his words, alright. He kissed Erica, and it was nothing short of foul. Minus 10.

She was a fan, however. “I have good lips that I maintain by getting injections every six months,” she says. Gross, but Plus 6 for unintentional comedy.

Hey, look at that, we forgot William was still on the show! Plus 5.

The more riled up Kasey gets, the harder he is to understand, as his voice resembles a frog’s. Plus 19, because no one cares what he’s saying anyway.

Kasey Kahl PhotoVienna Girardi Bikini Photo

Vienna Girardi‘s fake boobs are ALL over the place this week. Like, more than usual. Given her personality, how did she ever win The Bachelor?! Minus 3.

Kasey gets down on one knee and gives Vienna a ring … a promise ring. SO lame, and yet fitting, as these two are developmentally in first grade. Wash.

Even Vienna can’t take Kasey’s singing half seriously. Take a hint. Unless ABC is paying him cash under the table to pull this, what a douche. Minus 11.

Melissa is freaking out. Like, panic-attack style. Xanax time. Minus 2.

A twist: Only one guy will go home this week! Not that anyone watches Bachelor Pad for the competition aspect, but Minus 4 for rules changing weekly.

Chris says the winner of the last rose is “Kasey” … and then we fade to black. Huh? He then says on Twitter that “It will all make sense next week!” Is Bachelor Pad trying to make us think? What gives? So confusing. Minus 15.

One theory: Jake punches Kasey in the junk before he bolts for the limo, and ABC just wanted to save that for next week’s show. We can hope. Plus 2.

The Mask always cracks us up with his spots during the credits. Plus 3.

EPISODE TOTAL: +14. SEASON TOTAL: +28.

GONE: Jake Pavelka, Dignity.

Dakota Fanning: Oh, Lola Behind-the-Scenes Look

Making for the perfect choice as a face of the scent, Dakota Fanning is featured in the Oh, Lola campaign for Marc Jacobs’ new perfume.

The “Sixth Sense” actress playfully posed in a pink-themed photo shoot with pictures below and behind the scenes video available above.

As for the new Marc Jacobs offering, Oh, Lola is described as having “top notes of effervescent raspberry, frais des bois and pear, a heart of peony, magnolia and cyclamen, and a drydown of vanilla, sandalwood and tonka bean.”

Having been released this month, Dakota told WWD of the gig, ?Every time one of Marc?s fragrances comes out I run to the store to buy it. The moment I was asked to be a part of the Oh, Lola campaign, I was so humbled and said yes immediately.?

Meanwhile, Jacobs dished on his latest scent, ?We recolored the bottle and changed the juice. This Lola is more of a Lolita than a Lola, but we weren?t going to call the fragrance Lolita. Lola is more seductive; Oh, Lola is sensual, but she?s sweeter.?

Big Brother 13 POV Spoilers for Week 7

Time again for some Big Brother 13 spoilers, this one covering the POV for Week 7. As we all know from the Sunday show, and my previous recap and spoiler article, Jeff won the HOH competition, the first male to do so this season. He edged out Porsche and Rachel in the soapy slip-n-slide race. After much politicking from Danielle, hoping to ensure her safety, Jeff decided to nominate Kalia and Porsche, both of Danielle?s allies, for eviction. Jeff is HOH this week and is going after Danielle and her alliance. Image Credit: Nikki Nelson / WENN.com. If that were not bad enough, we also watched on the Sunday recap show how Jeff got to hand-pick the three Have-Nots for this week. He chose Danielle, Porsche and Kalia. They may only eat slop all week, or enjoy hard-boiled eggs and jalapeno peppers. Needless to say, the ladies are not happy. So, now we get into spoiler country. Jeff won the POV competition. The debate now begun on whether to let things stand, or make a move now on back-dooring Danielle? The general consensus is that if the vote were between Kalia and Porsche, Kalia would be the one sent home. [...]

Chris Brown or Justin Bieber: Who’s Hotter?

Chris Brown or Justin Bieber. That is the eternal question.

The musicians, friends, frequent collaborators and mutual lovers of girls, money and fast cars come from different upbringings, but have much in common.

Obsessed fans, for example. Beliebers on one side, Team Breezy on the other. Either army would lay it all down for their man/boy. So THG asks you this:

Who’s the hotter star? Cast your vote and be heard now!

Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter IV Drops At Midnight After VMAs

Weezy’s VMA performance and nominations lead up to the long-awaited release on Sunday night.
By Alvin Blanco

Lil Wayne is going to dabble in a little midnight madness. Already scheduled to perform at the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday, Weezy has just announced that he’ll also be dropping his highly anticipated new album, Tha Carter IV, at midnight, right after the show.

“I am extremely excited to be the first artist to utilize such an amazing idea. I hope that I can open the door for others,” Lil Wayne said in a press statement.

The YMCMB rapper’s latest will be released digitally via iTunes, Amazon and other legal MP3 download destinations at 12 a.m. on August 29. Those still dedicated to physical CDs need not worry since the album will be in retail stores later that Monday.

The release of Tha Carter IV will be the capstone to a big night for Weezy, who is also up for Moonmen in the Best Hip-Hop Video and Best Collaboration categories. And despite Wayne’s skateboarding accident over the weekend (he tweeted that he needed nine stitches for a gash over his eye), he is sure to take the Nokia Theatre stage by storm this week.

“The MTV Video Music Awards are one of the most watched and respected shows in the industry,” Ronald “Slim” Williams, CEO of Cash Money Records, said in a statement. “Wayne is one of the most respected and prolific artists in the industry. By pairing the release of Tha Carter IV with the VMAs, it will certainly add to the overall anticipation and excitement for fans everywhere for what will surely be an unforgettable evening.”

With Jay-Z and Kanye West throwing a wrench into traditional album-release strategies with their Watch the Throne project, Lil Wayne has chosen to make his own release an event by coinciding with another. “Lil Wayne continues to change the game; this time with a new release strategy that demonstrates the power of the VMAs to grab the attention of music fans,” MTV President Stephen Friedman said. “After our millions of viewers experience the VMAs, they can go online at midnight and download the album they’ve all been waiting for.”

Tha Carter IV‘s latest single is “She Will” and will feature appearances from, T-Pain, Tech N9ne, Rick Ross, John Legend, Jadakiss, Nas and Busta Rhymes, among others.

The 28th annual MTV Video Music Awards will air live Sunday, August 28, from Los Angeles at 9 p.m. ET/PT, following the Selena Gomez-hosted pre-show at 8. See the list of nominees, revisit last year’s highlights and vote for Best New Artist at VMA.MTV.com.

Pitbull, Ne-Yo Will Give ‘Everything’ As VMA Performers

Jessie J will serve as VMA House Artist on Sunday night.

He heated up Jennifer Lopez‘s “On the Floor” and scored his own summertime smash with “Give Me Everything.” So it just makes sense that Pitbull would be bringing the fire to Sunday’s 2011 Video Music Awards.

The Latin hip-hop sensation will join an already-stellar roster of performers on the show that includes Lady Gaga, Adele, Bruno Mars, Lil Wayne, Chris Brown and Young the Giant. The VMAs will air live from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles on Sunday at 9 p.m. (live ET/tape delayed PT).

Pit will perform his chart-topping hit “Give Me Everything” with R&B star Ne-Yo and upcoming singer Nayer, bringing a club vibe to the Nokia on a night when another club-friendly singer, British pop phenom Jessie J, will serve as the night’s house artist. The “Price Tag” singer — who will tour with Katy Perry this fall — will follow in the footsteps of such luminaries as deadmau5, Wale, Mark Ronson and the late DJ AM, who have taken the house-band honors in the past.

A number of other top names have also been added to the growing list of presenters at the show, including Nicki Minaj, Taylor Lautner, Drake, Joe Jonas, Jared Leto, Kevin Hart and comedian JB Smoove of HBO’s “Curb Your Enthusiasm.” They join previously announced presenters Selena Gomez — who will also anchor our black-carpet VMA Pre-Show — Seth Rogen, Kim Kardashian, Rick Ross and Odd Future.

Viewers can vote for Best New Artist by visiting VMA.MTV.com online or m.mtv.com on their mobile phone. In addition, Best New Artist text voting is open to all wireless carrier subscribers by texting BNA to 66333. Voting continues through the show, live on Sunday.

Pippa Middleton?s Kings Road Retail Romp

She definitely has a penchant for shopping, and earlier today (August 22) Pippa Middleton was spotted spending some dough in London, England.

Miss Middleton dropped by the boutiques of Kings Road to find some new duds, looking beautiful in a white jacket, peach dress, and mustard yellow handbag.

And it looks like Pippa?s Royal Wedding attire made quite an impression on Hollywood starlet Lindsay Lohan.

The ?Mean Girls? actress wore a white version of Middleton?s green Temperley gown to Kim Kardashian?s wedding on Saturday (August 20).

La Toya Jackson — Forgiving the MJ Haters

Filed under: La Toya Jackson, Michael Jackson, Gene Simmons, Music

La Toya Jackson thinks a lot of Michael Jackson haters have had a change of heart since her brother died — but it’s unclear whether she’s including Gene Simmons in that group.

You’ll recall KISS got dropped from the upcoming MJ tribute concert in part because Gene has said he believes Michael was a child molester.

This weekend in Bev Hills we asked La Toya if she thought the concert should be off limits to artists who disrespected Michael. Her answer is all about forgiveness … but are you buying it?

HGTV, LA and Dining Room Tables

I’ve been watching a lot of HGTV since coming to LA. My favorite shows are House Hunters and House Hunters International. There’s also another show I like to watch called For Rent, but only because it makes me angry.

When it comes to apartments/homes, I think living in New York for the past eleven years has made me bitter because there was this whiny broad on For Rent a few nights ago who was looking at a huge place—A HUGE PLACE—and was like, “There’s no place for a dining room table…”

B*TCH, YOU’RE LUCKY TO GET A KITCHEN IN NEW YORK.

I hated her.

Now there’s some stupid lady on House Hunters who wants a townhouse with a fireplace that she can turn on with a light switch. IT HAS TO BE A LIGHT SWITCH because she doesn’t want to bend down and flip a switch on the floor.

WHO DO THESE PEOPLE THINK THEY ARE?

Anyway, I know my LA update is WAY overdue (and truth be told I wrote a long one last week but for some reason it didn’t save so I lost the whole thing and I was so angry that I just said, “Ah, f*ck it,” and closed the computer instead of rewriting) but to give you a quick update, I AM SO HAPPY HERE. I MEAN, I’M REALLY, REALLY HAPPY. And I think living here and watching HGTV—both of these things combined—has made me realize that New York was just beating me down. I mean, the fireplace lady—yes, she’s an idiot. But there’s nothing wrong with wanting a dining room table. Why did I get so mad at that lady?

Since being here, at least once a day I ask myself why I have lived in New York for so long. (It’s like I had Stockholm Syndrome or something.) CALIFORNIA IS AWESOME. It’s like the promised land. It’s sunny all the time and there are birds and flowers everywhere. I have space out here. I have a sofa on the patio out here. I HAVE A SOFA OUTSIDE. I haven’t seen one rat since I’ve been here. But hummingbirds? THEY ZIP BY MY HEAD EVERY DAY. I am so happy.

I’m supposed to go back to New York in November, but truth be told, I’m not sure I will.

Lady Gaga Captures ‘True Spirit’ Of ‘Yoü And I’ In Video

‘It’s meant to be slightly linear and slightly twisted and confusing, which is the way that love is,’ she says during ‘MTV First: Lady Gaga.’
By Kara Warner, with reporting by Sway Calloway

Lady Gaga fans were treated with a very special gift Thursday (August 18), when the Lady herself graced MTV’s former “TRL” headquarters for the television premiere of her “Yoü and I” video, followed by a live, lengthy and revealing Q&A with MTV News’ Sway Calloway and a roomful of her most dedicated Little Monsters.

Speaking about the video, Gaga touched on several of the complex and layered metaphors in the clip, such as her various personas (male, female and non-human), wearing her mother’s wedding dress, the symbolism for some of her more intense life experiences, as well as the inspiration for the song.

“I wrote the song about this guy that I used to date,” she revealed, which drew surprised reactions from the fans in attendance, many of whom have assumed that Gaga was still involved with bartender beau Luc Carl. “But the song is about going back to anyone or anything in your life that means something to you. Nebraska [the video's location] is the center of it all,” she said. “For me, it was all about capturing the true spirit of song, which is when you’re in love, you’ll be willing to walk and do the craziest and most inconvenient things you can possibly imagine. The video is quite complex in the way that the story is told, and it’s meant to be slightly linear and slightly twisted and confusing, which is the way that love is.”

Lady Gaga makes her big VMA announcement: She’s opening the show!

Two of those twisted elements are Gaga’s performances as a mermaid and male alter ego Jo Calderone. One fan cheekily asked, “How do you have sex with a mermaid?”

“Well, that’s actually part of what the metaphor is — you can’t,” Gaga answered with a slight smile. “Sometimes in love, you can’t make it work. No matter what you do, there’s this giant boundary between you and someone else. So that’s what it’s about, perceiving in your imagination that there’s something magical inside of you that you can make it work.”

Speaking of Calderone, the Lady described the man as a bad boy who is not to be trusted. “He’s really hot. It’s so weird, because I’m usually really funny about men, but he does something to me,” she said, speaking of her alter ego as a personal acquaintance. “He took me out this one time when we first met, and he’s really fresh. I was really happy he wanted to be in the video and to model. He’s really fresh, though. He’s a bad boy, you know.”

Two other fan questions led to lengthy and fascinating reveals from Gaga. One asked if the wedding dress she wears in the clip is actually her mother’s.

“Yeah, that’s my mom’s dress. It’s so funny, because when I was younger, I hated my mother’s wedding dress,” Gaga admitted. “I would always say, ‘Mom, why don’t you have a long train and a tiara? I don’t understand.’ … I remember I was about 13 or 14 when I fell in love with my mother’s wedding dress. I asked her if I could use it in the video, because the love my mother and father have shared for almost 30 years now is what I hope to have someday.”

Finally, when asked to explain the significance of the ice-cream truck in the beginning of the video, Gaga revealed that it is about very specific and painful childhood memories.

“I’ve talked about some of it before with all of you: I had a lot of really intense experiences when I was younger, some of which I have shared with you and some of which I haven’t. The ice-cream truck represents all of the destruction of my youth at a very young time in my life,” she explained. “So while walking down the road to find love, the memories of the destruction of my youth sort of get in the way. That’s how I wanted to open the video, because I think it really sets up the rest of the story. It allows you to imagine you yourself are not just one person; you’re so many. That person has so many stories and memories to draw from, and they all affect your journey profusely. I’m battered quite brutally at the beginning of the video, but at the end, I’m not battered; I’m a bit strange. It’s not meant t to be an answer video; it’s meant to be a profuse number of the question.”

And that’s just the beginning of what Gaga revealed during her lengthy chat with Sway. Check back with MTV.com for more about the video, her VMA performance plans and more.

The 28th annual MTV Video Music Awards will air live on Sunday, August 28, from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles at 9 p.m. ET/PT. See the list of nominees, revisit last year’s highlights and vote for your favorites in the general categories by visiting VMA.MTV.com.

Lindsay Lohan Suing Over Pitbull’s ‘Give Me Everything’

In the suit, actress alleges the line ‘I got it locked up like Lindsay Lohan’ has caused ‘irreparable harm.’
By James Montgomery

It is seemingly a throwaway line in Pitbull‘s summertime smash “Give Me Everything” — “I got it locked up like Lindsay Lohan” — but it’s apparently enough to draw the ire of the actress and her legal team, who have just filed suit against Pit and the producers of the song.

In the lawsuit, obtained by TMZ, Lohan and her attorney, Stephanie Ovadia, claim that the line “by virtue of its wide appeal, condemnation, excoriation, disparaging or defamatory statements by the defendants about the plaintiff are destined to do irreparable harm to the plaintiff.”

Lohan — who, it is noted in the suit, is “a professional actor of good repute and standing in the Screen Actors Guild” — is suing under the New York civil-rights laws, which protects individuals from having their name exploited for commercial purposes. The suit seeks an injunction to stop all the defendants — in addition to Pitbull, Ne-Yo and Afrojack, who wrote “Give Me Everything,” are named — from broadcasting the song. It also seeks unspecified damages.

A spokesperson for Pitbull had no comment on the suit when reached by MTV News.

Lohan filed a similar suit — reportedly seeking $100 million in damages — against financial services company E-Trade last year after the company aired a Super Bowl commercial that referred to a baby as “That milkaholic Lindsay.” The suit was withdrawn in September, with E-Trade reportedly paying Lohan “a confidential sum.”

The “Give Me Everything” lyric was in reference to Lohan’s July 2010 stint in Los Angeles County Jail, when she served 13 days of a three-month sentence for violating probation on a 2007 conviction for driving under the influence.

‘Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes’ Holds Up Against ‘The Help’

’30 Minutes or Less,’ ‘Glee: The 3D Concert Movie,’ ‘Final Destination 5′ disappoint at box office.
By Ryan J. Downey

Not only did the apes begin to conquer the human world onscreen, but they managed to retain their top spot at the box office as well. Despite competition from four diverse new movies, “Rise of the Planet of the Apes” remained the #1 movie in America over the weekend.

The sci-fi prequel took in another $27.5 million during its second weekend of release for a $104.8 million total, according to studio estimates. Starring James Franco, “Rise” is a descendent of 1968′s original “Planet of the Apes” which was itself based on Pierre Boulle’s 1963 novel of the same name.

Whereas “Apes” was written in the ’60s but set in a distant future, “The Help” was written just a couple of years ago but is set in the ’60s. The movie adaptation of the hit book about a Southern belle who collects the stories of several African-American maids opened at #2 with $25.5 million, which was much stronger than observers predicted. Perhaps they should have known better: The book, by Kathryn Stockett, was legendarily turned down by some 60 literary agents before becoming a best-seller.

Both of the movies in the top two spots have benefited from positive reviews and strong word-of-mouth, while two of the weekend’s big flops — “Final Destination 5″ and the heavily promoted “30 Minutes or Less” — suffered from mostly poor reviews, according to Rotten Tomatoes.

“Final Destination 5″ was the first flick in the horror movie franchise to open lower than its predecessor, mustering up just $18.4 million to open at #3. Pricier 3-D screenings accounted for roughly 75 percent of the gory sequel’s business.

The last time Jessie Eisenberg worked with director Ruben Fleischer was on “Zombieland,” which opened to overwhelmingly strong reviews and nearly $25 million two years ago. Their latest collaboration, the comedy “30 Minutes or Less,” took in just $13 million over the weekend to open at #5.

With a reported budget of just $28 million, the movie, which stars Eisenberg as a pizza deliveryman who is kidnapped by two low-rent hoods (played by Danny McBride and Nick Swardson) who intend to force him to rob a bank, opened much lower than low-budget R-rated sleeper hit ”Bridesmaids” did earlier this summer.

“Glee: The 3D Concert Movie” suffered the worst opening of all of the new major wide releases, coming in at a distant #11 with $5.7 million — even worse than the 3-D Jonas Brothers movie. The budget for the film, featuring the stars of the hit Fox series, was roughly $9 million. Another movie about a group of singing friends, “The Smurfs,” was #4 with $13.5 million. The live-action/animated mix has made $101.5 million since it opened three weeks ago.

This weekend’s new releases include franchise reboot “Conan the Barbarian,” which sees Jason Momoa taking over from Arnold Schwarzenegger; “Fright Night,” a remake of the 1985 vampire-moves-in-next-door horror romp; Anne Hathaway’s romantic “One Day”; and the latest installment of Robert Rodriguez’s “Spy Kids” series, “Spy Kids: All the Time in the World in 4D,” which will screen in what producers are calling “Aromascope Smellovision.”

Check out everything we’ve got on “Rise of the Planet of the Apes.”

J.Lo Reveals Why She Almost Didn’t Do ‘Idol’ Again

J.Lo Reveals Why She Almost Didn't Do 'Idol' Again

Though Jennifer Lopez just recently confirmed that she would, in fact, be returning for the new season of American Idol, the judge says there was a time at the end of last season that she wasn’t so sure.

"I got a little bit tired at the end with everything going on in my life at the time," says Lopez, whose announced in June that she and husband Marc Anthony were divorcing after seven years of marriage.

Appearing at a press conference for the show in Savannah, Ga. Thursday, the "I’m Into You" singer says she realized that Idol was "one of the best things I’ve ever been involved with." Lopez also credited working with the aspiring singers and host Ryan Seacrest, as well as fellow judges Randy Jackson and Steven Tyler, in helping her make her decision.

I was like, ‘Okay, I’m gonna do it again,’" she says.

Earlier this month, Idol‘s executive producer Nigel Lythgoe revealed the news that Lopez would be prettying up the judges’ panel once again, for season 11.

While appearing on Seacrest’s radio show, Lythgoe said, "I am delighted to say that all three judges, along with the brilliant host of American Idol is back for the next season."

While we’re sure Jen really does love her job over at Idol, we can’t help but think that her significant pay raise had a bit to do with her decision, as well. Last week, The Wrap reported that Lopez will be making more than $20 million for her work on the show — about $8 million more than she made last year.

Yeah, that may have had something to do with it.

Robert Rodriguez Explains ’4-D’ Smells In ‘Spy Kids 4′

Director tells MTV News about film’s use of ‘Aroma-Scope’ technology.
By Kara Warner

Director Robert Rodriguez has made a career out of pushing the filmmaking envelope in various ways, from “Desperado” to “From Dusk Till Dawn” to his very successful “Spy Kids” franchise, which includes the first resurgent 3-D film, 2003′s “Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over.”

To mark the release of the fourth “Spy Kids” film, Rodriguez has added another level to the 3-D canon with “Spy Kids: All the Time in the World in 4D.” And what exactly makes a film 4-D? A little extra sensory overload provided by what Rodriguez calls an “Aroma-Scope.”

“Instead of just going 3-D like we did on the last one, we brought in 4-D, which is a very fun gimmick that I found in this old movie in the ’80s,” Rodriguez told MTV News of being inspired by John Waters’ use of Smell-O-Vision for 1981′s “Polyester.” “It’s kind of a scratch-and-sniff [experience] and you get to be really, almost like a video game, interactive with the movie. There are some really surprising smells, and some of the biggest laughs come from that.”

Rodriguez went on to say that the Aroma-Scope, which is a card with eight numbers on it that audience members are given with their 3-D glasses, provides viewers with a less passive and more interactive film-going experience.

“Even my own kids, people today are so interactive with gaming that to go and watch the movie feels so passive, so this really bridges the gap between the two,” he explained. “You’re watching the movie and then almost like video game numbers come up and you [scratch] the cards and smell almost exactly what the characters are smelling. It’s funny, the characters are all reacting to it, the adults are reacting to it — it’s really fun.”

Making his way to the Land Down Under, Taylor Lautner was spotted touching down at Melbourne Airport in Melbourne, Australia on Sunday (August 21).

Wearing a big smile on his face to go with a mostly-black ensemble, the “Twilight” heartthrob was escorted through the terminal as he’s in town for a short Aussie promotional tour tied with his upcoming movie “Abduction”.

Set to hit theaters on September 23rd, the thriller caper co-stars Lily Collins while being “centered on a young man who sets out to uncover the truth about his life after finding his baby photo on a missing persons website.”

After the movie’s theatrical release, “Abduction” is lined up to become Lionsgate’s very first early-release VOD test film – with the picture to be made available via VOD beginning three months after it’s cinema debut.

According to Bloomberg, Lautner’s film “will be offered for $6.99 in standard definition and $7.99 in HD, well below the typical early release prices of around $30.”

Pet Tags

Man, I’m so irritated.

I just received four pets tags that I ordered for Bev and Mary Margaret (two for Brooklyn and two for LA) and they’re all messed up. Not only did they leave off the “Margaret” on Mary Margaret’s tags, but the text isn’t centered correctly and runs off the right side on all four of them. (The last letter of the address is cut in half.) The tags themselves are also ugly. The edges aren’t smoothed out… they look like someone just cut them from a piece of sheet metal and called it a day.

So anyway, I got them this morning on my way to Starbucks (yesterday’s mail), so while I was there, I started drafting a strongly-worded letter in my head, like what I was going to say to these people when I sent them back.

And then I saw it.

In tiny print on the bottom of the invoice it said, “Our handicapped employees appreciate your order.”

So now I can’t send them back. If I did I’d be a total asshole.

I’m just going to order new ones from someplace else. Any recommendations?

Susan Lucci Considering a Move Online with ‘AMC’

Susan Lucci Considering a Move Online with 'AMC'

Since All My Children‘s cancellation earlier this year, that soap’s most famous star, Susan Lucci, has been meeting with Hollywood producers and considering her next move. This week, though, it looks like she has another option: to stay right where she is.

The last episode of All My Children will air on September 23rd, but, now that ABC has licensed the show to continue online (via the production company, Prospect Park), Lucci might not necessarily have to vacate her role as Erica Kane. According to Deadline, she is weighing an offer to stay in Pine Valley!

Scheduled to premier online during the first quarter of next year, the reincarnation of AMC will have a smaller overall budget, which will mean pay cuts for many of the actors who cross over to the web. But, word on the street is that Lucci’s salary would remain about the same. (How’s that for star power?)

Despite what may sound like a sweet deal, it’s possible that Lucci might choose to leave the series that’s paid her salary since 1970. Asked about a rumored spot on Desperate Housewives, Lucci acknowledged to Access Hollywood that "there’s a lot of talking going on."

And why not strike out for Wisteria Lane and beyond? Pine Valley can’t keep her forever.

‘One Day,’ ‘Spy Kids,’ ‘Conan’ & ‘Fright Night’ Reviews

'One Day,' 'Spy Kids,' 'Conan' & 'Fright Night' Reviews

Which movies are fun for the whole family and which ones are treats just for you? Find out!

In theaters now:

One Day
Short Story:
On July 15, 1988, polar opposites Dexter Mayhew (Jim Sturgess) and Emma Morley (Anne Hathaway) meet and begin a friendship that lasts a lifetime. Em is a working-class girl looking to improve the world and Dex is a wealthy charmer living the bachelor lifestyle. The film checks in with the pair every July 15 for 20 years, showing how their friendship grows and evolves into the love of a lifetime.

What They’re Saying:
"It’s a frustrating film, never light enough on its feet to be cute, never heartfelt enough to achieve ‘You had me at Hello.’" — Orlando Sentinel

"In a season of movies dumb and dumber, One Day has style, freshness and witty bantering dialogue." – Chicago Sun-Times

Good For Kids?
Rated PG-13 for sexual content and partial nudity, this is a flick for mature teenagers and adults. Hire a babysitter if you are in the mood for a romantic drama featuring two hot young actors.

Watch the preview!

Spy Kids: All the Time in the World
Short Story:
Marissa Cortez Wilson (Jessica Alba) seems to have the perfect life: a new baby, two step kids (Rowan Chanchard and Mason Cook) and a famous TV reporter husband (Joel McHale). But Marissa is a retired secret agent — and, when the evil TimeKeeper (Jeremy Piven) threatens to take over the world, she has to leap back into action. With a new Spy Kid division open, Marissa’s stepchildren Rebecca and Cecil get help from some familar spies Carmen (Alexa Vega) and Juni Cortez (Daryl Sabara) as they try to save the planet. As an added bonus, it’s in 4-D — which means it uses "Aromascope" so you can smell what’s going on in the movie.

What They’re Saying:
This movie has yet to be reviewed.

Good for Kids?
The fourth installment in the Spy Kids franchise is perfect for kids looking for adventure with their favorite family of spies. Common Sense Media says: "Kids who were fans of the first films may have aged out of the target audience by now, but even tweens and kids who aren’t familiar with the earlier movies will want to check out a flick that stars kids as action heroes." Conan the Barbarian
Short Story:
Jason Momoa of Game of Thrones fame steps into the role of the sword-weilding barbarian that made Arnold Schwarzenegger a star, though filmmakers promise a new take on the saga. When his father is murdered and his village destroyed, Conan sets out on a quest for vengeance — and ends up defending the great nations of Hyboria from witches and monsters who mean to conquer them.

What They’re Saying:
"Here’s a movie that’s simultaneously lavishly violent and numbing, visually ornate and undistinguished, epic and shallow, relentlessly noisy and tone-deaf, workmanlike and unfilling." — Entertainment Weekly

"Both truer to the vision of its character’s creator, Robert E. Howard, and more satisfyingly pulpy than the 1982 movie incarnation." – Village Voice

Good For Kids?
Common Sense Media reminds parents that this is a take on the Conan story inspired by the 1982 Arnold Schwarzenegger movie. Rated R for strong, bloody violence and some nudity, this one isn’t kid-friendly in the slightest. Click to read the full Common Sense review!

Fright Night
Short Story:
Charlie Brewster (Anton Yelchin) has it all: He’s popular and dating one of the hottest girls in school, but trouble arrives when a mysterious man named Jerry (Colin Farrell) moves in next door. Everyone seems to think Jerry is a great guy, including Charlie’s mom (Toni Collette) — but, as the trailer reveals, Jerry is actually a bloodthirsty vampire who’s been killing kids in the area.

What They’re Saying:
"This decent remake of the ’80s vampire favorite should satiate horror fans." — Hollywood Reporter

"At least this new version stays true to its origins by having a bit of cheeky fun, and the way it contemporizes the story is really rather clever." — Associated Press

Good for Kids?
Rated R for bloody horror violence, it’s best to hire a babysitter if you plan to see this reimagining of the 1985 cult favorite. Perfect for scary-movie fans, the film has recieved stellar reviews from the critics and should not be missed!

In case you missed:

The Help
Short Story:
Skeeter (Emma Stone) is a journalist living in Jackson, Miss., in the midst of the  1960s civil rights movement. Hoping to challenge societal rules and break down the color barrier, Skeeter enlists maids Aibileen (Viola Davis) and Minny (Octavia Spencer) to write a novel from the perspective of "the help." Keeping the maids’ identities secret to protect their safety, the novel forces the citizens of Jackson to come face-to-face with their racial issues.

What They’re Saying:
"(The Help) is, in some ways, crude and obvious, but it opens up a broad new swath of experience on the screen, and parts of it are so moving and well acted that any objections to what’s second-rate seem to matter less as the movie goes on." — New Yorker

"The Help brings a chick-flick sensibility to a serious subject, which is more daring than it might sound. It’s also incredibly refreshing." — Newsday

Good for Kids?
Rated PG-13, parents should be aware that this movie deals with some mature issues. Common Sense Media says the adaptation of Kathryn Stockett‘s best-selling novel "isn’t likely to appeal to young kids but is a historically relevant drama that mature tweens and teens can see with their parents." Recommended for children ages 12 and above, the film deals with some heavy issues such as segregation, physical abuse and miscarriages. Click to read the full Common Sense review!

Glee: The 3D Concert Movie
Short Story:
Fox’s hit show Glee heads to the big screen for an eye-popping 3-D concert experience showcasing live performances of the show’s most popular songs, as well as behind-the-scenes coverage and fan interviews.

What They’re Saying:
"The title promises a concert movie, in 3-D, based on the show Glee, and the film delivers precisely that, in a way that I believe is sure to overjoy fans of the show." — MSN Movies

"Haters, head for the door. But Gleeks? Get your Glee on." — Orlando Sentinel

Good for Kids?
This movie is perfect for Gleeks of any age! There is no need for parents to worry: According to Common Sense Media the PG-rated movie "is much tamer than the TV show" and leaves out "heavy/edgy material." With fan interviews, the movie stands by Glee‘s positive message to celebrate diversity and accept what makes everyone different. Click to read the full Common Sense review!

30 Minutes or Less
Short Story:
In this action-comedy, Nick (Jesse Eisenburg) is a pizza delivery boy with a rather boring life. But things get interesting when he is kidnapped by two idiot criminals (Danny McBride and Nick Swardson), strapped with a bomb and forced to rob a bank before the bomb goes "boom!" With time ticking away, he enlists the help of his best friend Chet (Aziz Ansari) — and learns a few things about living life to the fullest.

What They’re Saying:
"None of this crackles with the kind of breezy, madcap hilarity that it should; it’s actually rather tortured and convoluted." — Associated Press

"Moral of the story: If you occupy the demographic that this film is aimed at, Hollywood doesn’t have a very high opinion of you." — Chicago Sun-Times

Good for Kids?
This one has an R rating — thanks to some nudity, sexual content and violence — so leave the kiddies at home!

Watch the preview!

Final Destination 5
Short Story:
In the fifth installment of the Final Destination franchise, a man saves a group of coworkers when a suspension bridge collapses. But the groups soon finds out that no one can escape Death (yes, with a capital "D"). In a race against time, the group must frantically figure out a way to cheat death as he tries to find creative ways to kill them.

What They’re Saying:
"To borrow from TV terminology, the series hasn’t jumped the shark yet, but the strain of inventing bizarre deaths is beginning to show." — Hollywood Reporter

"It almost kills me to say that Steven Quale’s Final Destination 5 brings sanity to a single-minded, broken record of a franchise that has, until now at least, seemed predisposed against thoughtfulness." — Slant Magazine

Good for Kids?
With a R rating, Common Sense Media tells parents to "expect another round of horrific gore, violence and death." So it’s probably wise to leave the kids at home; only adults and teenagers with an interest in horror films should see this one. Click here to read the full Common Sense review!
